APS Montessori Steering Committee

The Montessori Steering Committee met during the 2010-2011 school year to develop a three-to-five year working plan, based on a review of existing policies and practices, and included recommendations for the continuous enhancement of the countywide Montessori program. The committee was co-chaired by Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education Dr. Michelle Picard and 2010 AMAC President Margaret Eldridge and consisted of a stakeholder group of parents, teachers, and administrators.  The committee met monthly from September 2010 through April 2011, for a total of eight meetings.  The committee identified concerns and developed potential recommendations to address the concerns, which are presented in this report. Recommendations fall under the following categories: Montessori Best Practices, professional development, centralized admissions, parent education, and a small group of other recommendations that don't fit in those four categories.

Please see The Montessori Steering Committee Report and Recommendations from April 2011 attached below.
